As per the current dietary guidelines from the Mayo Clinic, a child between the ages of 2 and 4 is recommended to consume 1,000 calories per day. An adult’s body can’t be maintained at that level of energy, and neither can all the macro and micronutrients necessary for growth and development be contained in that amount of food.
