Luka Dončić, born February 28, 1999, is a Slovenian trained basketball professional for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Slovenian state team.
Born in Ljubljana, Luka Dončić shined as a junior player for Union Olimpija, before being a part of the youth academy of Real Madrid. He started playing for their senior unit in 2015, at age 16, growing into the youngest player ever in club history. Two years further down the line, he led Madrid to the 2018 EuroLeague title, winning the EuroLeague MVP as well as the Final Four MVP. Luka Dončić was also identified as the ACB Most Valuable Player and won back-to-back EuroLeague Rising Star and ACB Best Young Player awards. Moreover, he was also selected to the EuroLeague 2010–20 All-Decade Team.
In 2018, Luka Dončić was selected for the NBA draft, joining the Dallas Mavericks. Back in June, the owner of the team, Mavericks and Shark Tank star, Mark Cuban said that he saw Luka Dončić working out with a professional coach, Rick Carlisle and that he probably “saw an ab.” Probably it was just one, but we are hoping to see some more gains. “There may have been 2. But he’s definitely in better shape,” he continued.
Luka Dončić took this challenge to the heart when he saw the reporter’s tweet and even replied to him back right then with a promise and also some laughing smileys to get a sixpack by the end of the summer. A few months later though, he was actually able to see some improvements. It looked like the amazing Rookie of the Year is pretty well on track and might be able to fulfill his promise. Luka Dončić actually posted a series of his workouts and his results on his social media, especially Instagram, which shows him in between his exercises and looking leaner than he was ever before.
